3 Nights 4 Days Economic and Environmental Benchmarking from 5th to 8th
Investment Attraction Activities... Mutual Cooperation MOUs Signed
Gwangyang City in Jeonnam announced on the 1st that to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their sister city relationship, a delegation of 22 members led by Mayor Jeong In-hwa will make a goodwill visit to Shenzhen City, China, from the 5th to the 8th.
The visit by the Gwangyang delegation to China is a reciprocal visit following the visit of the Shenzhen delegation to Gwangyang in early September. Since establishing their sister city relationship in 2004, Gwangyang City and Shenzhen City have maintained a close relationship through active exchanges.

The delegation consists of Mayor Jeong In-hwa, Jo Hyun-ok, Vice Chairman of the Gwangyang City Council, Woo Kwang-il, Chairman of the Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ahn Seong-su, Chairman of the Gwangyang Venture Valley Enterprise Association, as well as Gwangyang city officials, representatives from POSCO’s External Cooperation and Venture Support sections, and stakeholders from secondary battery and venture companies, representing the public sector, government, and enterprises.
During the 3-night, 4-day visit, the delegation will visit global companies and waste incineration facilities in Shenzhen City to promote Gwangyang’s investment environment and focus on benchmarking in the economic and environmental sectors.
On the first day of the visit, they will meet with the Mayor of Shenzhen to discuss ways for mutual prosperity and future-oriented relations. They will then attend a photo exhibition commemorating the 20th anniversary of the sister city relationship, reflecting on the friendship and harmony built over many years between the two cities. The delegation will also visit Lianhuashan (蓮花山) Park and Xianhu Botanical Garden (仙湖植物園) in Shenzhen to benchmark park development projects, an area in which Gwangyang City is making dedicated efforts.
On the second day, a Gwangyang-Shenzhen investment environment briefing session is scheduled. After promoting Gwangyang’s attractive investment environment, the Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce and Industry will sign a friendly exchange agreement with the Shenzhen Trade Promotion Committee. Following the signing ceremony, the delegation will visit global companies such as Huawei, Tencent, DJI, and BYD to introduce Gwangyang’s investment environment and discuss cooperation plans.
On the third day, the delegation plans to visit the Shenzhen Eastern Environmental Protection Development Plant, the world’s largest waste incineration facility, to gain know-how necessary for establishing and operating waste incineration facilities in Gwangyang City.
On the fourth day, they will visit iMakerbase in Dagongfang (大公坊), a representative innovation space in Shenzhen, and sign a business cooperation agreement with the Gwangyang Venture Valley Enterprise Association for future mutual collaboration.
Mayor Jeong In-hwa expressed, “This year marks the meaningful 20th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Gwangyang and Shenzhen. Based on the solid friendship built in the fields of culture, arts, tourism, and youth, it is time to advance full-scale and practical cooperation in the economic sector,” showing high expectations for the goodwill visit.
