Gift Certificate Provided Upon Achieving 100,000 Steps in 14 Days
Yeongju City Public Health Center in Gyeongbuk will operate the ‘Less Salty, Less Sweet’ Diabetes Prevention Walking Challenge starting from the 4th.
This walking challenge is organized to promote the importance of a low-sodium, low-sugar diet and regular exercise that help manage blood sugar levels, in observance of World Diabetes Day on the 14th.
According to the city health center, walking is one of the easiest aerobic exercises to do in daily life, and combining it with strength training can have a greater effect on blood sugar management.
In this walking challenge, participants who achieve 100,000 steps over 14 days will be entered into a draw to receive a mobile gift certificate worth approximately 10,000 KRW, awarded to 210 people. The maximum number of steps recognized per day is 15,000.
To participate, install the ‘WalkOn’ app on your smartphone, join the official Yeongju City community, click ‘Join Challenge,’ and then start walking. However, you must submit your entry after reaching the step goal to be eligible for the prize draw.
Kim Moon-su, the head of the health center, said, “Managing blood sugar is essential for maintaining a healthy life, and it is important to develop proper lifestyle habits in the long term. We hope residents will join the walking challenge and practice healthy living.”
