Kim Dong-geun, Mayor of Uijeongbu, Spends Time Communicating with Citizens While Painting Minhwa Mayor Kim Dong-geun is taking a commemorative photo with citizens after painting Minhwa at the Yeoul Minhwa Studio on the 31st of last month as part of the "Into the Lives of the People" program.

Kim Dong-geun, mayor of Uijeongbu City, visited the ‘Yeoul Minhwa Studio,’ a leisure space for citizens and a unique learning center, on the 31st of last month as part of the ‘Into the Lives of the People’ program, sharing the joy of creation.

According to Uijeongbu City on the 1st, Minhwa not only reproduces tradition but also expands its horizons by creating modern Minhwa, yet it remains a relatively unfamiliar field to the public.

Yeoul Minhwa Studio (29-11, Pyeonghwa-ro 552beon-gil, Basement 1) is a place where, despite these circumstances, passion for Minhwa drives not only personal creation but also Minhwa classes for the general public.

Mayor Kim Dong-geun drew Minhwa together with the students at this studio and engaged in conversation. He spoke about the reasons for starting Minhwa and the positive changes it brought to life, bringing him closer to the lives of citizens.

Son Seung-hee, head of Yeoul Minhwa Studio, said, “It takes a long time and dedication to complete a single Minhwa,” adding, “Focusing on the process of drawing and completing Minhwa seems to boost self-esteem.”

Mayor Kim said, “It was a time to feel the thirst for exhibition spaces for works by citizens interested in painting,” and added, “We will continue to prepare various exhibition spaces such as the ‘Uijeongbu Station Complex Cultural Space Ieum’ and the ‘City Hall Lobby Citizen Gallery.’”

Marking the second anniversary of the 8th elected term, Uijeongbu City operates the ‘Into the Lives of the People’ program as part of the ‘Citizen Daily Life Care Project,’ where the mayor personally visits citizens’ living spaces, workplaces, learning centers, and playgrounds to experience daily life.
