Paju-si Holds Meeting of Expert Advisory Group on Women's Policy Paju City held the 'Women's Policy Expert Advisory Group Meeting' on the 31st at the video conference room on the 2nd floor of the Paju City Hall main building, followed by a commemorative photo.

Gyeonggi Paju City (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 1st that on the 31st, it held a meeting of the Women's Policy Expert Advisory Group at the video conference room on the 2nd floor of the main building of Paju City Hall, attended by women's policy experts, representatives of women's organizations and facilities, and citizen representatives.


The formation and operation of the Women's Policy Expert Advisory Group is a pledge of the 8th local government administration. It aims to enhance the effectiveness of women-friendly city policies by reflecting citizens' demands and experts' opinions in the process of discovering and promoting women-friendly city specialized projects, and to create a gender-equal Paju City through professional responses to gender equality-related issues.


At the meeting, 14 members were appointed, including Jeong Hye-won, Head of the Gender Violence Integrated Response Team at the Gyeonggi Women's Family Foundation. They focused on discussing the policy to close prostitution districts, which has been continuously promoted for two years to eradicate prostitution, emphasizing the urgent need to eliminate districts where violent sexual exploitation of women occurs and what kind of spaces these areas should be transformed into for the citizens.


The attending committee members stated, "While it is important to eliminate prostitution districts, it is also necessary for citizens to remember the history of these districts and their symbolism as spaces of gender violence, so that they can learn from the past, heal, overcome marginalization, and transform these areas into spaces of coexistence."
