‘Onsan Deoksin-ri Urban Regeneration New Deal Project’
Ulsan Ulju-gun participated in the '2024 Urban Regeneration Festival' held at Busan Citizens Park from the 31st of last month to the 1st and received an Excellence Award at the 'Regional Specialized Field Balanced Development Best Practice Competition.'
The '2024 Urban Regeneration Festival' was co-hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Busan City, and organized by the Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation and Busan Urban Corporation.
Under the theme of 'The Wave of Urban Regeneration, Future Led by the Region,' the event presented and shared visions for urban regeneration, featuring a communication platform with contests for citizens, exchange meetings, seminars, and external exhibitions, where various discussions and ideas were proposed.
Ulju-gun passed the preliminary round and, after a presentation review, received an Excellence Award in the 'Regional Specialized Field Balanced Development Best Practice Competition' with the theme 'Transformation of Life and City, Onsan Green Town Factory.'
The Onsan Deoksin-ri Urban Regeneration New Deal project introduced a case of discovering and nurturing entrepreneur-type small business owners with autonomous creative capabilities called 'Green Town Makers,' creating a startup ecosystem, which received favorable reviews.
Onsan Deoksin-ri was selected for the urban regeneration project in 2020 and is promoting the project with the vision of 'Warm Neighbors and a New Original Town, Onsan Deoksin-ri.'
They are conducting software projects such as strengthening resident capabilities, operating an urban regeneration university, and programs for fostering entrepreneurs and economic organizations. Additionally, facility improvement projects such as home repair support, alley community creation, and Ondeok Harmony Park improvement are underway, along with the establishment of regional hub facilities like startup platforms and cultural creation centers.
An official from Ulju-gun stated, “We will continue to do our best with residents to enhance regional competitiveness and vitality through urban regeneration projects in Ulju-gun and to achieve sustainable results.”
