A video presumed to show the 'sole surviving North Korean soldier' has been released, supporting claims that the North Korean advance unit deployed to Russia was almost entirely wiped out in the Kursk battle, with only one survivor.
On the 31st of last month (local time), the pro-Ukraine Telegram channel (@borsch2002) released footage titled "The Result of North Korean Troops' Deployment to Kursk," showing a severely injured man. The channel claimed that the man in the video was the only survivor among the North Korean advance unit deployed to Kursk.
The video shows a man presumed to be a North Korean soldier lying in a hospital bed with bandages wrapped around his head and face. The bandages are stained with blood and pus, indicating severe injuries at a glance. The man, speaking with a North Korean accent, painfully identified himself as "the only survivor who lived through the Kursk battle."
He went on to claim, "The Russian army lied that as long as we stayed in the protective facilities, we would not be ambushed and would never participate in the frontline." He added, "However, the Russian army forced us to participate blindly in the offensive during the Kursk battle," and lamented, "Russia did not conduct any reconnaissance before the attack nor provide us with weapons to protect ourselves."

He explained the reason for his survival, saying, "I was able to survive by hiding under the corpses of my comrades." He continued, "When Ukraine launched the attack, our unit had 40 members, but all of my friends, including Hyeokcheol and Gyeonghwan, died in action," and said, "Our comrades were all sacrificed as mere fodder." He emphasized, "I saw with my own eyes the mountain of Russian soldiers' corpses. Putin will lose this war."
Earlier, on the 28th of last month, Jonas Oman, head of the Lithuanian NGO 'Blue-Yellow,' stated in an interview with local media LRT, "The first visual contact between the Ukrainian forces we support and the North Korean troops occurred on October 25 in Kursk. To my knowledge, all Koreans (North Korean soldiers) except one died."
However, the basis for Oman's claims and the authenticity of the video have not been verified.
