The 'National Road No. 1 Forum 4th Seminar,' jointly hosted by the National Road No. 1 Forum and Korea Aerospace University and sponsored by Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province, will be held on the 5th at 1:30 PM at the Today Art Hall of Korea Aerospace University.

The National Road No. 1 Forum is a nonprofit New Urbanism expert organization proposing sustainable urban development models through the convergence of cities, technology, transportation, and industry.

Since its launch, it has promoted 'strengthening solidarity between cities' connected by the National Road No. 1 route through biannual seminars and research activities, presenting urban improvement plans for the respective cities.

This year's 4th seminar will be held in collaboration with Goyang Special City and Korea Aerospace University, focusing on the environment and characteristics of Goyang Special City and the university. Under the theme 'Conceptualizing Sustainable Cities: Connectivity and Innovation,' proposals and discussions on urban development strategies centered on Goyang Special City's aerospace workforce training cluster and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) industry will take place.

In particular, the city plans to propose a 'future-oriented urban development model integrating aerospace research and industry' at this seminar.

A city official stated, "It is significant that a gathering to strengthen solidarity between cities centered on National Road No. 1 is held in Goyang Special City," adding, "We hope to continue collaboration with Korea Aerospace University in various fields, including the aerospace industry, through this seminar."

The seminar consists of two sessions. The first session, titled 'Building Goyang Special City's Aerospace Cluster: Possibilities and Future,' will be chaired by Hong Nam-ki, Chair Professor at Korea Aerospace University.

Three experts participated in the keynote presentations: Kim Hyun-ho, Director of Goyang Research Institute; Hwang Ju-yeon, Director of Urban Housing Policy Office at Goyang City Hall; and Oh Hyun-woong, Director of Industry-Academia Cooperation at Korea Aerospace University.

The second session, chaired by Chair Professor Yeo Hyung-gu of Korea Aerospace University, will proceed under the theme 'Vision for Sustainable Urban Transportation: UAM and Smart Cities.' The keynote speakers include ▲Kim Jeong-il, Vice President of SK Telecom ▲Choi Young-soo, Director of Self-Sufficient City Realization Bureau at Goyang City Hall ▲Bae Jae-sung, Professor at Korea Aerospace University.

Through each keynote presentation, the seminar will explain 'the impact and opportunities of UAM on urban design and transportation innovation' and present 'the role of Korea Aerospace University in the development of the UAM industry.' It will also propose cooperation methods among universities, industries, and local governments.

Meanwhile, last month, Goyang Special City sent a letter to local governments along National Road No. 1, proposing to expand the scale and roles of local governments centered on National Road No. 1 and to establish a regional cooperation network for mutual growth and development.
