Ecological Stream Gardening with Citizens
Kim Dong-geun, Mayor of Uijeongbu City, is planting autumn flowers with citizens at Gyeongui Garden on the 31st. Gyeonggi Uijeongbu City (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) planted 500 autumn flowering plants at Gyeongui Garden, located under the Sinui Bridge on Jungnangcheon Stream, together with about 20 citizens including community leaders from Uijeongbu 1-dong on the 31st.
Gyeongui Garden was established last year under the Sinui Bridge on Jungnangcheon Stream, covering an area of 886㎡. It features Salix (three-colored willow) and various flowering plants, attracting much interest and love from citizens using Jungnangcheon Stream.
This year, preparation work for planting autumn flowers was completed by removing weeds on October 10th.
During the event, the city taught citizens how to plant autumn flowers such as Aster, Korean Chrysanthemum, and Japanese Spiraea, allowing them to plant flowers themselves.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “We will continue to develop various river programs that citizens can participate in directly and create beautiful ecological rivers together with the citizens.”
