Pocheon City Selected for 5 Projects in Gyeonggi-do's 3rd Regional Balanced Development Initiative Baek Young-hyun, Mayor of Pocheon City, explained on the 31st that five projects were selected for the 3rd Regional Balanced Development Project in Gyeonggi Province, securing 40 billion won in provincial funding. .

Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 31st that five projects were selected for the 3rd Regional Balanced Development Project of Gyeonggi Province, securing 40 billion KRW in provincial funding.


The Regional Balanced Development Project, led by Gyeonggi Province, supports provincial funding (strategic project funds and performance project funds) over five years from 2025 to 2029 to enhance the regional development capabilities of six underdeveloped cities and counties in the northern and eastern parts of Gyeonggi Province.


To address the ongoing issue of population decline, the city established project plans focusing on improving living conditions and expanding tourism infrastructure with the goal of sustainable development.


The city engaged in continuous on-site consultations with Gyeonggi Province and the Regional Balanced Development Support Center, and announced that five projects?Cheongseongsan Comprehensive Development, Pocheoncheon Blueway Creation, Greenway Pedestrian Bridge Installation, Taebong Neighborhood Park Creation, and Hantangang Performance Camping Cultural Leisure Complex Creation?passed the review of the Gyeonggi Regional Balanced Development Committee and were finally selected.


The Cheongseongsan Comprehensive Development Project (Phase 1) will invest 9.7 billion KRW (7.275 billion KRW provincial funding, 2.425 billion KRW city funding) to create Banwol Square, a forest playground, and a campnic site. The project is scheduled to begin construction in January 2025 and aims for completion by the end of 2026.


The Pocheoncheon Blueway Creation Project (Phase 1) will invest 13.5 billion KRW (10.125 billion KRW provincial funding, 3.375 billion KRW city funding) to develop a multipurpose waterfront plaza, ecological waterfront garden, pedestrian paths, and bicycle roads. The project aims for completion by 2026.


The Greenway Pedestrian Bridge Installation Project will allocate 12 billion KRW (9 billion KRW provincial funding, 3 billion KRW city funding) for the installation of a pedestrian bridge and cultural terrace, while the Taebong Neighborhood Park Creation Project will invest 9.5 billion KRW (6.1 billion KRW provincial funding, 3.4 billion KRW city funding) to create a community plaza, arboretum, and sports plaza.


The Hantangang Performance Camping Cultural Leisure Complex Creation Project will allocate 10 billion KRW (7.5 billion KRW provincial funding, 2.5 billion KRW city funding) for the creation of a camping site, multipurpose outdoor event space, and wildflower colony. The project will be carried out from 2025 to 2027.


Additionally, since the province plans to provide additional performance project funds based on project implementation results, Pocheon City intends to fully commit to the project with a goal of securing more than 20 billion KRW in additional performance project funds.


Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon City expressed gratitude for Gyeonggi Province’s support for balanced development in the eastern and northern regions of Gyeonggi Province, stating, “Through this project, we will establish a sustainable and long-term growth foundation for Pocheon City and do our best to transform it into a city where citizens can live better.”
