Creation of Childcare and Care-Friendly Infrastructure Including Basement 2 to 4th Floor Daycare, Kindergarten, Kiwoom Center, Toy Library, Kids Cafe... Expanding Cultural Accessibility and Everyday Cultural Enjoyment Opportunities as a Living Culture Center and Family Communication Space
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will begin construction in December on a "Social Welfare Complex Facility" in Singil 5-dong, scheduled for completion in the second half of 2027. The facility will provide childcare, care, education, and family services for all ages, from infants to adults.
The "Social Welfare Complex Facility" will have a total floor area of 8,266㎡ (approximately 2,500 pyeong) and will be a building with two basement levels and four above-ground floors.
The facility will include ▲a daycare center ▲a kindergarten ▲a comprehensive childcare support center ▲a Kiwoom Center supporting after-school care for elementary students. The plan is to strengthen the social care network covering everything from infant childcare to elementary student care. Within the same building, there will also be ▲a Seoul-style kids caf? ▲a toy library to support childcare families.
Additionally, to enhance residents' access to culture and support cultural activities, the facility will house ▲a living culture center ▲a family communication and cultural space. These spaces will serve as venues for various hobby and cultural arts programs, exhibitions, performances, and club activities, becoming a "communication space" connecting local residents with culture and a "living culture space" where everyday life becomes culture.
Thus, the "Social Welfare Complex Facility" in Singil 5-dong will be a place where childcare, care, and education issues for young children can be addressed in one location, as well as a space where families can communicate and enjoy culture. It is expected to enable the establishment of living and cultural infrastructure in response to population inflow due to redevelopment and to meet the increasing demand for care and education.
Furthermore, it is anticipated to become a complex facility that opens new horizons by realizing community-centered welfare and culture, expanding educational infrastructure, and improving childcare environments for future generations.
The "Social Welfare Complex Facility" in Singil 5-dong is scheduled to begin construction in December and be completed in the second half of 2027.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, "The 'Social Welfare Complex Facility' is a new public facility that combines family-centered welfare services with childcare, care, and education infrastructure. Once completed, it will serve as a leading model to alleviate childcare burdens and overcome low birth rates." He added, "We will do our best to proceed without any setbacks according to plan so that parents, children, and local residents can all be happy, and Yeongdeungpo can become a city that is great for raising children."
