Neorigin announced on the 31st that its subsidiary Fox Media has launched a new original work titled "Neoege-man Mopseul Jit" on the short-form drama platform "TopReels." With this new launch, the number of original IP (intellectual property) works on TopReels has expanded to a total of five. The total number of works currently available on the service has increased to 87.
"Neoege-man Mopseul Jit" is a melodramatic revenge story about two people who have lived as step-siblings for 19 years and fall in love while uncovering family secrets and conspiracies together. It is based on the popular Chinese short-form drama "The 19th Year." The production was handled by Urban Works, a subsidiary of the comprehensive content company RBW and a producer of entertainment and drama content, with DSP Media participating in the OST production. Each episode is about 2 minutes long, and the series consists of a total of 80 episodes.
Neorigin expects high user response to "Neoege-man Mopseul Jit," following the success of the original work "Three People Living Married Life," which launched earlier this year and immediately ranked first in platform popularity upon release.
Neorigin plans to continuously enhance TopReels' platform competitiveness by launching excellent overseas works while steadily strengthening the development of its own original works to solidify its position as the industry leader. TopReels was launched in March this year as Korea's first short-form drama specialized platform and gained attention by ranking first on the App Store.
According to industry sources, the short-form drama industry, which has spread in the US and China, is rapidly establishing itself domestically as well. Mobile Index analyzed that the monthly active users (MAU) on the two platforms, TopReels and Bigloo, from September to October increased by 22.5% compared to July to August two months earlier, reaching 37,656 users.
A Neorigin official said, "The fastest-growing sector in the video content industry this year is short-form content, especially 'short-form dramas,' which are receiving great attention," adding, "Neorigin was able to confirm the growth potential of the short-form content market in advance and enter the domestic market proactively, establishing itself as an industry leader."
He continued, "Including 'Neoege-man Mopseul Jit,' we plan to produce various original K-short-form contents going forward," and added, "Through this, we aim to grow into a global short-form drama platform beyond Korea."
