November 21st 3rd Campaign
The Department of Social Welfare at Dongmyung University has been conducting a mental health promotion project for university students in collaboration with the Busan Nam-gu Mental Health Welfare Center for two months.
Dongmyung University Department of Social Welfare and Busan Nam-gu Mental Health Welfare Center continue their mental health promotion activities within the school.
The department’s mental health specialized volunteer club, ‘Healing Hyeyum,’ operated a mental health counseling booth on October 25th at Dongmyung University campus together with the Nam-gu Mental Health Welfare Center, using the depression scale (PHQ-9) and suicide scale (SBQ-R).
Students who experienced self-assessments said, “The experience of self-assessment at a booth run by fellow students helped dispel prejudices about mental health counseling and increased awareness of the importance of suicide prevention.”
The department held on-campus campaigns to promote mental health among university students on September 13th (1st) and October 25th (2nd). The 3rd campaign is scheduled for November 21st.
Professor Solji Lee of the Department of Social Welfare emphasized, “Participation in the mental health promotion project is highly meaningful for improving the mental health of enrolled students and strengthening the employment capabilities of students preparing to enter the fields of mental health and medical social welfare.”
The mental health promotion project targets Dongmyung University students by providing suicide prevention education and campaigns, aiming to detect high-risk groups early through screening tests and enhance suicide prevention awareness through preventive education.
