The 'Intensive Care - Nutrition Coaching' program, held for about six weeks from late July to early September at a large-scale catering site in the metropolitan area, targeted 106 customers who were classified as obese with a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or higher and at high risk of metabolic diseases requiring health management.

Samsung Welstory analyzed obesity and dietary habit-related factors of all participants through tests linked with a genetic testing institution. Approximately 80% of the participants were genetically less sensitive to tastes such as salty and sweet, making them more likely to consume high amounts of sodium and sugars, and about 75% carried genetic factors related to obesity.

Subsequently, clinical dietitians who completed the Seoul National University Nutrition Coaching Academy course analyzed related data such as dietary intake, health checkups, InBody, and exercise based on each participant’s genetic characteristics to set personalized goals and provide various health solutions including nutrition coaching.

Meals were customized and provided in the cafeteria from over 330 care menus developed by Samsung Welstory, including low-fat, low-sugar, low-sodium, and balanced diets. Additionally, healthy meals were delivered to participants’ homes to enable continuous meal management even on weekends. Daily missions such as walking more than 6,000 steps and eating breakfast three consecutive times were also conducted to help form healthy lifestyle habits in daily life.

After conducting the six-week program, Samsung Welstory measured the health indicators of participants and reported that on average, participants succeeded in losing 2.4 kg in weight, 0.9 percentage points in body fat percentage, and 0.8 in BMI.

A Samsung Welstory official stated, "As the importance of personalized health management grows, we will continue to strive to develop customer care solutions."
