According to Kyodo News on the 30th, the total global production volume of eight major Japanese automobile companies in the first half of this fiscal year (April to September) decreased by 6% compared to the same period last year, totaling 11,878,301 units.
By company, Toyota produced 4,705,037 units, down 7.0%, Honda (1,817,415 units) decreased by 8.1%, and Nissan (1,532,501 units) fell by 7.8%, with production volumes declining in six out of the eight companies.
In the case of Suzuki, production in India showed strong performance, increasing by 0.8% to 1,616,273 units, and Mazda also grew by 1.6% due to overseas sector growth.
Kyodo News reported, "Production stoppages due to certification fraud issues, along with intensified competition with local electric vehicle companies in the Chinese market, affected the production decline," adding, "This is the first time in four years since 2020 that a decrease has been seen in the first half of the year."
