Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 30th that it conducted an educational session titled ‘Understanding the Medical Care Assistance System’ on the 29th at the Goyang City Hall Cultural Center for new medical care beneficiaries in the second half of 2024.

This education aims to promote the activities of medical care managers, support beneficiaries in managing their own health, and ensure they use the necessary medical services effectively.

The session, designed to help first-time medical care recipients gain a comprehensive understanding of the system, was attended by approximately 300 new beneficiaries who acquired medical care assistance for the first time between May and September of this year.

The education covered ▲ rational use of hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies ▲ essential procedures when using medical care assistance ▲ reporting changes in beneficiary status and education on fraudulent claims ▲ financial welfare education for vulnerable groups facing economic difficulties, which significantly increased participant engagement.

A city official stated, “We hope this session provided an opportunity to resolve questions about the medical care assistance system and to learn about it in more detail,” adding, “We will continue to offer educational opportunities to new medical care beneficiaries to help them use medical services correctly and reasonably.”

Meanwhile, Goyang City currently has about 21,000 medical care beneficiaries. Seven medical care managers conduct close counseling activities aimed at improving health management skills and guiding rational medical use for general medical care recipients, new beneficiaries, long-term inpatients, year-round managers, and frequent outpatient users.
