Gyeongnam Information University (President Kim Tae-sang) announced on the 30th that it recently received a scholarship donation of 5 million KRW from Jongno Electric (CEO Park Dong-cheon), a family company in industry-academia cooperation, for the university's electrical engineering students.
Five students from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Gyeongnam Information University received scholarships at the 7th Youth Support Project of the Dongjin Nanum Welfare Foundation.
Through the 7th Youth Support Project of the Dongjin Sharing Welfare Foundation, chaired by CEO Park Dong-cheon of Jongno Electric, a total of 121 students received scholarships, among whom 5 electrical engineering students from Gyeongnam Information University each received a scholarship of 1 million KRW, totaling 5 million KRW.
In particular, Chairman Park has been providing scholarships of 5 million KRW annually for seven consecutive years to electrical engineering students at this university.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary, Jongno Electric is a specialized company in electricity, telecommunications, firefighting, and renewable energy based on excellent technology and know-how.
Park Dong-cheon, CEO of Jongno Electric, said, “We have been carrying out scholarship projects so that local students can focus solely on their studies,” adding, “We will actively hire outstanding students from Gyeongnam Information University’s electrical engineering department, including international students, to strive for mutual growth with the local university.”
Kim Sang-hyo, head of the electrical engineering department, said, “I express my respect and gratitude to Chairman Park Dong-cheon, who personally practices sharing with students in need,” and added, “We will inherit this noble intention and work even harder to nurture talented individuals.”
