Dongducheon City Health Center Expands Congenital Hearing Screening and Hearing Aid Support for Infants and Young Children

Dongducheon City Health Center Expands Congenital Hearing Screening and Hearing Aid Support for Infants and Young Children Poster for 'Congenital Hearing Screening and Hearing Aid Support for Infants and Young Children' at Dongducheon City Public Health Center.

The Public Health Center of Dongducheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Park Hyung-deok) announced on the 30th that from this year, the income criteria for congenital hearing loss screening and hearing aid support for infants and young children have been completely abolished, expanding the eligible recipients.

The hearing loss screening support targets are ▲(screening test) infants who underwent outpatient screening tests covered by health insurance within 28 days after birth ▲(confirmatory test) infants who received a confirmatory test after a re-examination judgment from the screening test results.

The support includes coverage of the out-of-pocket expenses for the test (up to 2 times). Applications can be made online through e-Health Center (Public Health Portal) or by visiting the health center directly within one year from the date of birth.

Additionally, hearing aid support for infants and young children under 5 years old diagnosed with bilateral or unilateral hearing loss provides up to two hearing aids.

A health center official stated, “We will do our best to prevent developmental disabilities through early detection of hearing loss, improve health promotion, and provide medical expense support.”
