On the 29th, Yangju City signed a business agreement at Yangju City Hall with Yangju Police Station and the Korea Ultralight Aircraft Pilots Association for the search of missing elderly dementia patients and intellectually disabled persons (from left: Park Jeong-hoon, Chief of Yangju Police Station; Kang Su-hyun, Mayor of Yangju City; Jang Gi-seong, President of the Ultralight Aircraft Pilots Association). Gyeonggi Yangju City (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 30th that, on the 29th, it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the search of missing elderly dementia patients and intellectually disabled persons at Yangju City Hall, together with the Yangju Police Station and the Korea Ultralight Aircraft Pilots Association, based on the city's proposal.
The signing ceremony was attended by Yangju Mayor Kang Su-hyun, Yangju Police Station Chief Park Jung-hoon, Jang Ki-sung, President of the Ultralight Aircraft Pilots Association, and other related officials.
This agreement was established in response to the increasing number of missing dementia patients and intellectually disabled persons in the area, aiming for early discovery of missing persons and preservation of the golden time, as well as for prompt and efficient search operations in hard-to-access mountainous areas and other vulnerable search zones.
Through this agreement, in the event of a missing or dangerous situation involving dementia patients or intellectually disabled persons in the area, the city and the Korea Ultralight Aircraft Pilots Association will cooperate by providing information on available drones and operators to the Yangju Police Station, while the Yangju Police Station will share the current situation with Yangju City and the Korea Ultralight Aircraft Pilots Association and disseminate information on drone cooperation locations and times.
Mayor Kang Su-hyun of Yangju said, “I thank the Yangju Police Station and the Korea Ultralight Aircraft Pilots Association for attending this agreement,” and added, “Through this agreement, Yangju City will do its best to protect citizens’ safety by discovering missing persons early and safeguarding the lives of our citizens.”
