On the 30th, Anseong City announced that it would carry out emergency culling to contain the spread after a positive confirmation of bovine LSD at a dairy farm in Bogae-myeon the previous day.
Lumpy Skin Disease first appeared domestically in October last year, and this is the second occurrence in the Anseong area following the outbreak in August.
According to the emergency Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), Anseong City conducted emergency culling of the positively confirmed cattle among approximately 110 dairy cows raised at the affected farm, and plans to carry out selective culling of positive cases after blood tests on all cattle.
Additionally, a quarantine zone has been established within a 5 km radius of the affected farm, with movement restrictions, operation of transfer stations, and deployment of dedicated disinfection and pest control vehicles within the quarantine area to fully prevent further spread.
A city official stated, "We will strengthen vaccination for vaccine-exempt animals and intensify vector insect control and disinfection to ensure the early termination of Lumpy Skin Disease," and urged, "Livestock farmers should comply with quarantine guidelines and promptly report any suspected symptoms."
