Taean County in South Chungcheong Province has formed a sisterhood relationship with Dongjak District in Seoul, taking the first step towards mutual development and prosperity for both regions.
On the 30th, the county announced that it held the 'Taean County-Dongjak District Sisterhood Agreement Ceremony' in the county office's main conference room, attended by over 50 people including County Governor Gasero, County Council Chairperson Jeon Jaeok, Dongjak District Mayor Park Ilha, Dongjak District Council Chairperson Jeong Jaecheon, officials from both local governments' Saemaeul Leaders Associations, and local residents.
This sisterhood agreement aims to promote co-prosperity through establishing a mutual cooperation system between the two local governments. It proceeded swiftly after Dongjak District proposed the sisterhood agreement to Taean County in June.
The county expects to widely promote Taean, a leading tourist destination on the west coast, in Dongjak District, and anticipates substantial benefits such as opening new seafood markets utilizing excellent infrastructure like Noryangjin Fish Market, and operating settlement support programs for those wishing to return to farming, fishing, or rural life.

Dongjak District also plans to use the 'Dongjak District Resort' located in Anmyeon-eup as a base to improve residents' accessibility to and utilization of Taean's major tourist resources, aiming to strengthen cooperation with Taean County as an opportunity for regional development.
Both sides plan to share outstanding policies and innovative cases, dispatch relief goods and volunteer groups in the event of disasters, mutually visit and promote local festivals, actively participate in joint branding of local agricultural products and youth exchanges, and continue cooperation in various fields.
Park Ilha, Mayor of Dongjak District, said, "I would like to thank the officials of Taean County for readily accepting the sisterhood request. I hope that Taean, a representative resort and tourist destination on the west coast, and Dongjak District, the center of southwestern Seoul, will grow and develop together."
In response, Gasero, Governor of Taean County, said, "Starting from today, I hope Taean County and Dongjak District will solidify their cooperative relationship and achieve remarkable joint development. We will work together to ensure smooth cooperation in the future."
