Employee Voluntary Participation in Environmental Activities
Dong-A Socio Holdings conducted an environmental activity called the "Together Plogging Campaign," in which employees voluntarily participated. Plogging refers to the activity of picking up litter while walking or running.
The campaign, held for about three weeks last September, was carried out autonomously with the concept of protecting the environment and cleaning up the local community by plogging together with precious people around them, such as family, lovers, friends, and coworkers.
An employee who participated in the plogging campaign with their children said, "Although it didn't seem like there was much trash on the roadside, after plogging for about 200 meters, the bag was full," adding, "It was a meaningful and grateful time to look around the surroundings and pick up trash with my children."
Dong-A Socio Holdings' interest in the environment has been consistent. Last March, they also joined the global lights-off campaign "Earth Hour." Earth Hour is organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Every year, the last Saturday of March is designated as the campaign day, during which electricity is turned off from 8:30 PM for one hour to show a commitment to environmental issues and to act together for the planet.
Dong-A Socio Holdings expanded the scale of participation this year not only at its Seoul headquarters but also at the Talent Development Center located in Sangju, Gyeongbuk. Then, in May, they also took part in creating a carbon-neutral forest along Jungnangcheon in Dongdaemun-gu, linked with the Mentoring Day involving new employees of the Dong-A Socio Group.
A representative of Dong-A Socio Holdings said, "The Dong-A Socio Group, to which Dong-A Socio Holdings belongs, values the environment above all else based on its environmental management system," adding, "With the belief that small individual actions can create significant change, we will continue to carry out various environmental campaigns that employees can participate in."
