Tire Puncture Self-Sealing Technology
Hankook Tire & Technology's electric vehicle-exclusive tire product will be supplied to Volkswagen's high-performance electric sports utility vehicle (SUV). The technology also enhances energy efficiency and features self-sealing capabilities for tire punctures.
On the 30th, Hankook Tire announced that it will supply the 'iON evo SUV' as original equipment (OE) tires for Volkswagen's high-performance brand Cupra's electric SUV, the 'Tavascan.'
This product was developed through collaboration between Hankook Tire and Cupra. It is known for its excellent grip, handling, and braking performance. Hankook Tire particularly focused on noise reduction. By optimizing the number and size of tread blocks, noise was reduced, and rolling resistance was lowered to achieve high energy efficiency. Grip and braking power were also improved to ensure stable acceleration even when starting quickly with high torque.
Additionally, the self-sealing 'SealGuard' technology was applied. When a puncture occurs, a special sealing agent called 'sealant' applied inside the tire can immediately fill cracks up to a maximum diameter of 5mm.
