Yeongju City to Support Youth with Up to 200,000 KRW for Language and Certification Exam Fees

19 Language Tests, 544 National Technical Qualifications, and 95 Certified Private Qualifications

Yeongju City in Gyeongbuk Province is providing support of up to 200,000 KRW per year for language and qualification exam fees to unemployed and non-startup youth to encourage them and ease their financial burden.

The supported fields include 19 types of language exams such as TOEIC, 544 types of national technical qualifications including Korean history, and 95 types of nationally certified private qualifications.


Applications for support in the second half of this year can be submitted from November 1 to December 27. Applicants must attach proof of exam attendance and payment receipts and apply in person at the nearest eup/myeon/dong administrative welfare center or the City Hall’s Job and Economy Division.


Eligible applicants are youth aged 19 to 39 who have an address in Yeongju City from the exam date to the application date and are unemployed or have not started a business as of the exam date. Applications can be made for exams taken after July 1 of this year regardless of exam scores or pass/fail status.


Geum Won-seop, head of the Job and Economy Division, said, “We hope this project will be an opportunity to support youth self-development and strengthen their employment capabilities,” adding, “We will continue to expand customized policies reflecting the diverse needs of youth.”


In the first half of this year, the city provided a total of 11 million KRW in support to 116 people. The total budget for youth language and qualification exams this year is 20 million KRW.
