Yeongju City "Use Your Senior Health Promotion Card Balance Before It Expires"

Encouraging Use Within the Year for Seniors Aged 70 and Over and Basic Livelihood Security Recipients Aged 65 and Over

Yeongju City is actively promoting the use of the ‘Senior Health Promotion Voucher Card’ within the year, which is provided to seniors aged 70 and above and basic livelihood security recipients aged 65 and above.

This program, initiated in 2006 to encourage filial piety and support the healthy lives of seniors, provides assistance for bathing fees, hairdressing and beauty services, and laundry costs.

Since last year, the city has improved convenience by changing the existing paper-type Senior Health Promotion Coupons to the ‘Voucher Card,’ the first of its kind in Gyeongbuk Province. Along with this, the support amount was increased from 5,000 KRW to 7,000 KRW per month.

The voucher card is automatically recharged with 42,000 KRW every six months, allowing seniors to conveniently use it at registered local franchise stores offering bathing, hairdressing, beauty, and laundry services.

However, any unused balance will automatically expire at the end of the year, and cash exchange, lending, or transfer to others is prohibited. The city is encouraging active use of the card.

A city official stated, “We kindly ask that the card be used within the year, and we will continue to strengthen administrative support for seniors’ vibrant later years.”

To check participating stores and balance inquiries, residents can contact their local eup, myeon, or dong administrative welfare centers, the city hall’s Senior and Disabled Affairs Department, or visit the city’s website.
