Improving Planning Skills to Adapt to Changes in Educational Environment...Report Writing and Practical Training
Abolishing Knowledge-Centered Course...New Course Established to Foster Analytical Skills and Strategic Thinking
Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is conducting a training course titled 'Local Government Officials Policy Planning Skills Improvement Course' for Grade 6 employees. The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Tae-hee) announced on the 30th that it will operate a training program called the ‘Local Government Officials Policy Planning Enhancement Course’ for Grade 6 officials. The purpose is to improve the analytical and policy planning skills of local government officials in response to the diversifying future environment.
This training will be conducted for 35 Grade 6 local government officials, following the first half of the year (June and July). It will take place from October 28 to November 1 (5 days) and from November 18 to 21 (4 days).
The training program was newly established this year, replacing the previously knowledge-centered basic courses. It is structured into a basic course and an advanced & evaluation course (step-by-step curriculum) according to the training content.
Accordingly, it avoids fragmented and one-time lecture formats and is operated as a comprehensive understanding of the policy planning process, including case analysis and practical exercises. The focus is on enhancing report completeness, analytical thinking, and planning skills.
Features of the course include ▲pre-learning to understand the basic directions of Gyeonggi education policy ▲comprehensive understanding of the planning process from basic to advanced levels ▲strengthened participatory practical training applicable to the field (report completion and guidance) ▲improvement of presentation skills through event execution, presentations, and feedback ▲use of various methods to enhance educational effectiveness such as small group formation for report writing and dedicated guidance for presentations.
Gu Soon-yi, Director of the Administrative Competency Policy Division at the Provincial Office of Education, said, “This training course focuses on improving the analytical and planning abilities required of mid-level managers,” adding, “We will continue to plan and operate various training programs that can help respond to the diversifying future environment and strengthen the capabilities of public officials.”
