The Cheolma-myeon Administrative Welfare Center in Gijang-gun, Busan (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) recently completed the ‘Dandi! Safety Handrail Support Project,’ a village welfare planning initiative in Cheolma-myeon.
The ‘Dandi! Safety Handrail Support Project’ was promoted as part of creating a ‘comfortable and safe welfare village’ based on a welfare needs survey of local residents. It was carried out under the leadership of the Cheolma-myeon Village Welfare Discovery Group in cooperation with the Gijang Regional Self-Support Center (Director Lee Seon-ju).
This project involves supporting the installation of safety handrails in bathrooms for safety-vulnerable groups at risk of falls.
In June, the Cheolma-myeon Administrative Welfare Center, the Cheolma-myeon Community Security Council, and the Gijang Regional Self-Support Center signed a business agreement to officially promote the project, and from July to October, safety handrails were installed in 20 local households.
Additionally, on the 25th of this month, a project performance sharing meeting was held at the Cheolma-myeon Administrative Welfare Center to share stories about the overall progress of the project with local residents. The project received high praise from residents as a customized welfare initiative reflecting local characteristics.
A resident who participated in the project expressed satisfaction, saying, “Thanks to the safety handrails, I no longer worry about falling when going to the bathroom,” and “I am grateful for the installation of the safety handrails.”
Lee Sang-yeon, head of the Village Welfare Discovery Group, said, “We are pleased that the public and private sectors cooperated to promote the village welfare planning project and contribute to the improvement of local welfare.”
Jo Jeong-im, head of Cheolma-myeon, said, “We will continue to actively reflect residents’ welfare needs and become a Cheolma-myeon that approaches with thorough welfare.”
