'2024 Urban Regeneration Festival × Busan Urban Regeneration Expo' Held
Busan City, in collaboration with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (Minister Park Sang-woo), will hold the ‘2024 Urban Regeneration Festival × Busan Urban Regeneration Expo’ for two days from October 31 to November 1 at Dasom Madang and Citizen Sarangchae in Busan Citizens Park.
The ‘Busan Urban Regeneration Expo’ is the nation’s first local government expo that started in 2017 and is now in its 8th edition this year.
Under the theme ‘The Wave of Urban Regeneration, Future Led by Local Communities,’ it is designed as a place to discuss and share ‘Sustainable Urban Life’ together.
The event will be held in a diverse manner through ▲official events including the opening ceremony, ▲exhibitions and promotions, ▲programs, and ▲citizen participation.
▲At the official events including the opening ceremony, awards will be presented to urban regeneration contributors, and a ceremony will be held to recognize comprehensive achievements and outstanding regions in urban regeneration.
▲The ‘Policy Promotion Hall’ will showcase the government’s policy directions from past to present and the city’s achievements as a leading area of urban regeneration, such as the Sanbok-ro Renaissance. Promotional booths operated by local governments, specialized institutions, related organizations, village communities, and cooperatives will allow visitors to check the results of individual projects, as well as enjoy exhibitions and hands-on activities.
▲Through various competitions and case presentations, outstanding regions will be awarded, and a field trip program to advanced sites in Busan will be conducted to spread excellent cases of urban regeneration in Busan.
▲To expand opportunities for citizens to participate in urban regeneration, programs such as the ‘Virtual Reality (VR) Tour’ of key facilities where visitors can experience Hocheon Cultural Village and Hanseong 1918, the ‘Urban Sketch’ drawing experience of Busan’s neighborhoods and street scenes, and the ‘Personal Color Experience’ to find colors that suit oneself and recommend matching urban regeneration projects will be operated.
The opening ceremony of this event will be held at 2 p.m. on the 31st at the central stage near Dasom Square in Busan Citizens Park, with Mayor Park Hyung-joon and other key guests attending. It will feature presentations on past achievements, outstanding cases, and policy directions.
Mayor Park Hyung-joon said, “It is very meaningful to hold the Urban Regeneration Expo in Busan, a leading area of urban regeneration projects, together with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport,” adding, “I hope this will be a meaningful occasion to share Busan’s beautiful transformation with citizens and to explore the direction of urban regeneration policies.”
