The first session will feature Professor Jang In-bong of Shinhan University as the presenter, delivering a presentation titled "The Era of Local Governance, Vision and Strategy of the Gyeonggi Northern Special Self-Governing Province and a Decentralized Nation." The presentation will propose the establishment of the Gyeonggi Northern Special Self-Governing Province as a representative model for balanced national development through local autonomy and as a new growth engine for the Republic of Korea.

Song Eun-sil, head of the Gyeonggi Northern Special Self-Governing Province Promotion Team, stated, "Through this seminar, the establishment of the Gyeonggi Northern Special Self-Governing Province is expected to not only strengthen local autonomy and fulfill the national governance value of balanced national development but also present an independent development model suited to the characteristics of the northern Gyeonggi region, becoming an important turning point and game changer as a new growth engine for the future Republic of Korea." She added, "It will be a valuable opportunity for academic experts and local residents to come together and share practical consensus for the development of the northern Gyeonggi region."

Gyeonggi Province plans to continue discussions on regional development directions through the Gyeonggi Northern Special Self-Governing Province with universities in northern Gyeonggi to expand consensus.
