The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission Awards 1 Billion KRW Compensation to Whistleblowers in Q3

Public Institution Recovery Amount Decided at 8.8 Billion Won

The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission announced on the 29th that it paid compensation totaling 1.03 billion KRW to 78 whistleblowers reporting corruption and public interest violations in the third quarter of this year.

The Commission handled 77 cases of corruption and public interest reports for which compensation was paid, with approximately 8.8 billion KRW recovered by public institutions. By sector, the cases were mainly in welfare (28 cases), employment (17 cases), and research and development (R&D, 10 cases), in that order.


Mr. A reported a company that fraudulently obtained R&D funds by inflating labor costs for employees participating in a government-commissioned project and then receiving the excess amount back into their accounts, receiving compensation of 140 million KRW.


Mr. B reported the hospital’s representative and others involved in a case where non-medical personnel conspired with medical staff to open a hospital, receiving approximately 130 million KRW in compensation.
