Uijeongbu City Launches 'Dream Restart' for a New Beginning Toward Dreams

2024 DreamStart Graduation Trip

Uijeongbu City Launches 'Dream Restart' for a New Beginning Toward Dreams Uijeongbu City conducted a graduation trip titled "Dream, Restart!" on the 25th for 15 sixth-grade elementary school children scheduled to complete the Dream Start program in the Gangwon-do area.

Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 29th that on the 25th, it conducted a graduation trip called ‘Dream Restart!’ for 15 sixth-grade elementary school children who are about to complete the Dream Start program in the Gangwon-do area.

The Dream Start project is a government-led advanced child welfare initiative that provides customized integrated services to vulnerable children aged 0 to 12, supporting their growth into healthy and happy members of society. The children participating in this graduation trip are those concluding the Dream Start program upon graduating from elementary school.

During this trip, the children excitedly rode rail bikes along the coast of Jeongdongjin, then moved to a resort in Pyeongchang, where the autumn foliage was beautiful, to enjoy the thrilling mountain coaster. They also took a cable car up to Balwangsan Mountain and spent a precious day walking through the millennium yew forest, sharing friendship with their peers.

One child who participated in the graduation trip said, “The cable car was a bit scary, but once I reached the summit, I felt my chest open up and it was really great. Also, I was very impressed that the hollow red yew tree was still alive and not dead.” The child added, “I’m very sad that I can no longer be with Dream Start, and I think I will never forget this even after graduation.”

A city official stated, “We hope the children gain confidence through this trip and adapt well to middle school, growing into healthy adolescents. Dream Start will continue to promote various programs that can give children dreams and hope.”
