KakaoBank announced on the 29th that it received awards in four categories, including the Presidential Citation in the Financial Innovation sector, in recognition of its contribution to the development of the financial industry.
Lee Soo-young, head of KakaoBank's Global Team, received the Presidential Citation in the Innovation Finance sector on the same day. Lee led KakaoBank's global expansion efforts, spearheading the first overseas entry by a domestic internet bank through strategic partnerships with local companies. The bank formed a strategic partnership with Southeast Asia's super application Grab and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Thailand's SCBX to obtain a virtual bank license. 'SuperBank,' an Indonesian digital bank in which KakaoBank made its first global equity investment, successfully secured 1 million customers within two months of its launch, establishing a strong market presence.

Choi Hwang-seok from the Customer Authentication Camp One and Kim Sung-joon, team leader of KakaoBank's Home Service Development Team, received the Financial Services Commission Chairman's Citation in the Innovation Finance and Savings & Investment sectors, respectively. Choi was recognized for his work in authentication, including non-face-to-face real-name verification, contributing to the prevention of financial accidents and protection of financial consumers' rights through the activation of biometric authentication such as facial recognition and the advancement of authentication services. Kim contributed to the spread of new savings by developing savings products and implementing a convenient financial service app with low entry barriers.
Min Kyung-pyo, head of the Information Security Office, received the Financial Supervisory Service Governor's Citation for his contributions to the advancement of network separation security environments in the financial sector. Min was commended for his efforts in establishing security environments and policies to safely apply new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud (SaaS) within the financial information technology environment, thereby contributing to the development of network separation security in finance.
