A Total of 41 Programs Including Performances, Exhibitions, Experiences, and Special Shows
Rich in This Year's Collaborative Creations, Attractions, and Entertainment
On the 26th, Yangsan City in Gyeongnam successfully concluded the Yangsan City Cultural Artists Joint Creation Center Cultural Arts Festival (2024 Comprehensive Performance Presentation), held at Hwangsan Park, attracting over 3,000 citizens who visited the festival site with great interest.
This event presented the results of the 2024 pilot project of the Cultural Artists Joint Creation Center under the theme "Intergenerational Empathy, Communication and Harmony through Joint Creation," through various programs such as exhibitions, performances, and demonstrations. In particular, the performance presentation aimed to promote the creation center, scheduled to open in 2025, evaluate the project outcomes, and provide meaningful database references for the actual operation of the center.
The festival programs showcased that day were created and refined based on the achievements accumulated through the pilot project. These included 13 performances such as genre-blending shows by local artists, Yangsan Nongak demonstrations, youth band performances reinterpreting local cultural heritage, and an ESG fashion show collaboration between youth models from the creation center and senior models from Dongwon Science and Technology University Lifelong Education Center; 4 exhibitions; and 10 citizen cultural arts lecture experiences.
Notably, students enrolled in the "Local Cultural Arts Interpreter Training Course," established and operated as part of the 2024 Joint Creation Center pilot project, were assigned as interpreters at exhibition and experience booths. This was the first attempt in a Yangsan regional festival to provide practical opportunities for students and help citizens easily understand cultural arts genres.
Additionally, the festival featured the "Joint Creation Center Children's Song Festival" to discover local musical talents, an impromptu cooperative choir performance by participating children on the day of the song festival to provide experiences of communication and harmony through performing arts, and a special lecture by docent Choi Yerim to promote and raise public interest in the construction of the Yangsan City Museum of Art.
Experience booths, which opened at 10 a.m., occasionally reached near the maximum capacity for swimming, but mature civic consciousness was demonstrated as participants voluntarily lined up, resulting in no significant issues. Some booths ran out of hundreds of prepared materials early, causing some participants to leave disappointed.
The festival finale featured a special talk show titled "Talk Show with Egg Doctor and the Joint Creation Center," led by the popular insect-related YouTuber "Egg Doctor." The talk, focusing on the introduction of the Cultural Artists Joint Creation Center and insects used as materials in the center’s art projects, drew nearly 1,000 attendees, filling the seats and surrounding areas, heating up the special stage.
A citizen who attended the festival said, "The program content and composition were so rich that it was a pity it ended in one day. It was great to glimpse the excellent skills of local cultural artists in various lesser-known fields, and I thoroughly enjoyed it," expressing satisfaction with the festival.
Another citizen commented, "The fashion show was very impressive. It was nice to see youth and senior models together, and the environmentally conscious ESG fashion show outfits were striking," showing a positive reaction.
Mayor Na Dong-yeon stated, "This festival is evaluated as a successful case realizing one of the core values of the creation center, 'joint creation,' through the process of communication and cooperation between citizens and local cultural artists. We expect the creation center to continue playing a professional role in enabling citizens and local cultural artists to enjoy high-quality cultural arts in their daily lives."
