Female Prosecutor Suspended for 1 Month for Sexually Harassing Junior Male Prosecutor at Company Dinner

One Prosecutor Suspended for 6 Months Last Year Due to Inappropriate Conduct

A female prosecutor was suspended for sexual harassment of a junior male prosecutor during a company dinner.

According to the Ministry of Justice Gazette on the 29th, the Ministry of Justice imposed a one-month suspension on Prosecutor A of the Busan District Prosecutors' Office on the 23rd for inappropriate physical contact.

Prosecutor A, who was working at the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office around February last year, is reported to have made inappropriate physical contact and remarks while supporting a drunken junior male prosecutor who was staggering during a company dinner.

The Ministry of Justice also recently imposed a six-month suspension on Prosecutor B of the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office, who made inappropriate remarks to subordinates while intoxicated during company dinners from September to December last year.

The Inspection Department of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office reportedly began an investigation in December last year after learning that Prosecutor B, then assigned to the Ansan Branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office, made derogatory remarks to a junior female prosecutor at a company dinner.

The Prosecutor Disciplinary Committee under the Ministry of Justice comprehensively reviewed whether Prosecutor B's remarks constituted sexual harassment and decided on this level of disciplinary action.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Justice also imposed a four-month suspension on Prosecutor C of the Uijeongbu District Prosecutors' Office, who violated official duties by using approved childcare leave time for purposes other than childcare from January to June last year.

Additionally, the Ministry of Justice issued a reprimand to Prosecutor D of the Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office, who in December 2016 presented a thesis for preliminary doctoral examination that was written with revisions and supplements by a professor and teaching assistant.
