Joo Gwang-deok, Mayor of Namyangju City, attended the 'Hwado-eup Generational Harmony Festival' held over two days from the 25th at the outdoor plaza of Hwado Sudong Administrative Welfare Center and delivered a greeting. The Hwado-eup Residents' Autonomy Committee of Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Chairman Choi Young-gyun) announced on the 28th that they held the 'Hwado-eup Generational Harmony Festival' (7th Hwado-eup Generational Harmony Festival Ppeonppeon Festival & 13th Student Club Competition) over two days starting from the 25th at the outdoor plaza of Hwado Sudong Administrative Welfare Center.
The event began with a pre-festival featuring classical performances by the Namyangju Hwado Youth Orchestra and Hwado Choir, as well as a generational harmony singing contest preliminary round. This was followed by a youth club competition with 11 participating teams and a competition involving 16 resident autonomy center clubs including flute, Korean traditional dance, and acoustic guitar.
Additionally, a generational harmony singing contest open to residents and a congratulatory performance by Na Geon-pil, a JTBC Hidden Singer impersonator, were held. Various food booths and experience booths were also set up, providing diverse entertainment for the citizens attending the event.
At the youth club competition, the dance team (Intro) from Simseok High School won the grand prize. In the student club competition, Neulpureun Harmonica received the grand prize in the music category, and Senior Model Walking won the grand prize in the dance category. In the generational harmony singing contest, Mr. Lee Sang-gi was awarded the grand prize.
Chairman Choi Young-gyun said, "Through the 'Fun Fun Cultural Plaza Eupsaseo Noljjang' held three times after being selected at the Hwado-eup Residents' General Assembly and today's 'Ppeonppeon Festival,' I realized what true resident autonomy is," adding, "I hope citizens enjoy various performances here today and relieve their stress."
Joo Gwang-deok, Mayor of Namyangju City, stated, "I hope today's festival becomes an opportunity for Namyangju citizens to freely showcase their artistic talents and abilities," and added, "Namyangju City will continue to actively support making resident autonomy more vibrant and dynamic."
Meanwhile, the Hwado-eup Residents' Autonomy Committee is holding an exhibition of various works such as leather crafts and calligraphy by resident autonomy center students in the first-floor lobby of Hwado Sudong Administrative Welfare Center until the 30th.
