Sharing Future Vision and Establishing Concrete Action Plans for Achieving Results in the Second Half of the 8th Term of Civilian Government

Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do Reports '2025 Major Work Plan' Bang Se-hwan, Mayor of Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province, is conducting the '2025 Major Work Plan Report Meeting' to share the future vision for achieving results in the second half of the 8th term of the elected administration and to establish concrete execution plans.

Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) announced on the 28th that it held the '2025 Major Work Plan Report Meeting' to share the future vision for achieving results in the second half of the 8th term of the elected administration and to establish concrete execution plans.


The report meeting was held from the 24th to the 28th at the City Hall Vision Hall, presided over by Mayor Bang Se-hwan, with the participation of the vice mayor, heads of bureaus, offices, and departments. Extensive discussions were held on the 2025 promotion strategies, major core projects, new special policies, and ways to enhance performance.


In addition, policy advisors from various fields and private experts participated together, presenting diverse development plans aimed at the advancement of Gwangju City and the improvement of residents' quality of life, drawing attention.


Despite the ongoing economic downturn in Gyeonggi Province and the government's austerity budget policy causing reductions in local allocation tax and local tax revenues, the city plans to establish a strong financial crisis response system to support concrete achievement of key projects such as pledges and investment projects in the second half of the 8th term of the elected administration.


In particular, the city will steadily promote large-scale investment projects such as △ the successful hosting of the 2026-2027 Gyeonggi Provincial Comprehensive Sports Festival △ construction of the Gwangju Sports Complex and the Gwangju Bandabi Disabled Sports Center △ establishment of the Gwangju Comprehensive Funeral Facility △ development of the Neoreungol Natural Recreation Forest (Healing Town) project △ creation of the Carbon Neutral Wood Education Comprehensive Center project △ construction of a complex building on the former city hall site, and will also focus on creating future growth foundations through urban development projects such as the Gwangju Station Area (Phase 2) and Gonjiam Station Area (Phase 2).


Furthermore, the city plans to complete the vision of 'Hopeful Change, Happy City Gwangju' by implementing various policies for sustainable development, including △ expansion of road infrastructure such as new road construction and widening and paving of existing roads △ revitalization of the local economy with the concept of 'closely and densely' △ activation of the Naturalchae Food Farm Center △ creation of water-friendly spaces along Jikri Stream and improvement projects for polluted tributaries.


Mayor Bang Se-hwan urged, “Please boldly discard policies that are impossible to implement and propose effective supplementary measures to achieve goals, so that projects can be carried out swiftly. When promoting projects, thoroughly publicize and guide so that citizens do not have questions about the progress, and actively promote the results to increase citizens' perception of the city administration.”
