National Pukyong University Ranks First in Busan for Research Funding per Full-Time Faculty Member

Ranked 21st Nationwide... 157.78 Million KRW Per Capita

National Pukyong National University (Acting President Lee Min-hee) ranked first in the Busan area for 'research funding performance per full-time faculty member' again this year, following last year.

According to the August disclosure data on 'research funding performance' from University Alimi (based on 2023), National Pukyong National University recorded research funding performance per full-time faculty member of 157.78 million KRW (excluding matching funds), the highest among universities in the Busan area. Pusan National University followed with 152.17 million KRW.

National Pukyong National University achieved excellent results this year as well, following last year's first place in the Busan area with 151.28 million KRW per full-time faculty member.

Among 199 universities nationwide, it ranked 21st. The national ranking was as follows: POSTECH, KAIST, Korea University of Energy Science and Technology, GIST, UNIST, Sungkyunkwan University, DGIST, Seoul National University, Korea University, Yonsei University, Hanyang University (ERICA), Hanyang University, Ajou University, Jeonbuk National University, Sejong University, Sogang University, Kyungpook National University, Inha University, Chungnam National University, Kwangwoon University, and National Pukyong National University. Among comprehensive universities without medical schools, it was second only to Hanyang University (ERICA).

The total research funding performance of the university was 100.35082 billion KRW, ranking second in Busan after Pusan National University (220.04671 billion KRW). Nationally, it ranked 26th.

The fact that research funding performance per full-time faculty member is high relative to total research funding performance means that although the scale is smaller, greater achievements are made. This indicates the university's substantial research competitiveness.

Research funding is an essential requirement for the quality of university research and stable research activities, serving as an important indicator representing the university's research capabilities. The more excellent faculty members a university has, the higher the research funding performance appears.
