Naver Cloud announced on the 28th that it held 'NWEC (NAVER Whale Education Conference) 24' under the theme of 'Assessment as a Learning Process' and unveiled new services for Whale.
Now in its third year, NWEC is an event organized by Whale to directly communicate with partners in the education field about the future direction of education. Approximately 350 participants, including officials from metropolitan and provincial offices of education, edutech partner companies, and elementary, middle, and high school teachers, attended NWEC 24 held on the 26th.
At this event, Whale introduced Whale UBT, a Whale-based customized assessment service for public education that supports question provision, assessment, and management, as well as Whale OS FLEX, which allows the Whale education platform to be used on general PCs beyond Whale Book. The company expects this to establish a unified assessment management system in educational settings.
Since 2020, Whale has supported an assessment browser that was the first browser to apply 'exam mode,' creating a stable educational environment at exam sites. The assessment Whale browser is also integrated into the edutech platform 'Whale Space,' recognized for its high usability not only in elementary, middle, and high schools and universities but also in the digital assessment field.
In particular, Whale UBT is an assessment service optimized for the Korean public education environment, developed based on various cases from educational sites. Its features include ▲comprehensive management system for performance assessments ▲support for written and essay-type assessments ▲stable provision of high-quality questions ▲standardization of metadata ▲question authoring functions. Whale UBT is scheduled for official release in March next year, with plans to continuously expand high-quality questions through collaboration with multiple publishers.
Additionally, reflecting the voices from actual educational sites, Whale OS FLEX was unveiled to enable the use of Whale OS on low-spec PCs by installing it on general PCs. Its advantage is that it can be installed on existing classroom devices with just a USB, allowing immediate use of cloud-based Whale Book functions.
Kim Hyo, Director of Naver Cloud, said, "Whale will continue to strive to become an educational platform convenient for everyone by well incorporating the opinions of the education field."
