"No Staff to Enforce Personnel Reform in Yongsan"
As suspicions of election interference surrounding First Lady Kim Geon-hee grow, Cho Eung-cheon, the chief special advisor of the Reform New Party, emphasized that the current political flow is similar to the impeachment of former President Park Geun-hye in 2016 and that the suspicions involving the First Lady must be resolved.
On the 28th, Cho said on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' program, "Looking back at 2016, they labeled Floor Leader Yoo Seung-min as a traitor and drove him out, bypassed Party Leader Kim Moo-sung, and (former President Park) only communicated with pro-Park Floor Leader Won Yoo-chul," adding, "Afterwards, Kim Moo-sung was removed and Lee Jung-hyun became the leader, but then the tablet PC controversy erupted, causing the party to split into factions."
He continued, "Currently, communication is only with pro-Yoon (pro-Yoon Seok-yeol) Floor Leader Choo Kyung-ho of the People Power Party, while Party Leader Han Dong-hoon, who is disliked, is bypassed and insulted," warning, "Discriminating between the party's two top figures and communicating only with one side is extremely dangerous. The party could be divided."
Nevertheless, he said, "There is still time," and stressed the need to resolve the suspicions involving the First Lady. Cho stated, "If someone who was not elected is involved in state affairs and there seems to be an unofficial advisor within, that must be revealed," adding, "Personnel reform is a necessary condition."
He added, "When you try to fix this, the President gets furious, so even the aides seem to have no way to intervene," and said, "Even if the President is enraged, there should be aides who risk their positions and persist until the end, saying 'If this continues, everything will be destroyed,' but it seems there are no such aides in Yongsan."
