Gyeongnam Christian Culture Center Announces Winners of the 6th Gyeongnam Christian Culture Awards

The recipient of the 6th Gyeongnam Christian Culture Award, established by the Gyeongnam Christian Culture Foundation, has been officially announced.

On the 28th, the Gyeongnam Christian Culture Foundation selected Pastor Kim Su-young of Geoje Dadae Church for the pastoral category, Elder Oh Chang-sung of Masan Shingwang Church for culture and arts, Deaconess Won Soon-ryun of Geoje Gohyeon Church for social service, and Pastor Noh Kwang-soo of Changnyeong Mission Church for missions.

The Gyeongnam Christian Culture Foundation received nominations for the 6th Christian Culture Award throughout September via Christian associations in all cities and counties across the province. To select the awardees, a selection committee composed of pastors and elders was formed, and after three rounds of evaluation, the final recipients were announced.

Pastor Kim Su-young.

Pastor Kim in the pastoral category has served in the Geoje area for 39 years, conducting exemplary ministry that awakened rural communities by spreading the gospel alongside local residents despite difficult rural conditions, including the Evergreen Movement and the Youth Life Community Movement.

Elder Oh Chang-seong.

Elder Oh in culture and arts has served as a church school teacher and educator, dedicating his life to artistic activities with a unique biblical worldview through calligraphy and painting. He passionately donated over 3,500 works to various vulnerable groups.

Kwon Sun-ryeon, Deaconess.

Deaconess Won in social service devoted her life to serving as an elementary school teacher and principal in the Geoje area, providing after-school classes for underprivileged students and selflessly serving multicultural women by teaching Korean and offering many other acts of service and care.

Pastor Noh Gwang-su.

Pastor Noh in the missions category, while serving as the senior pastor of Changnyeong Mission Church, passionately dedicated himself to overseas missions. Despite the poor financial conditions of the rural church, he and the congregation never gave up on their missionary dreams, establishing 30 pioneering churches in Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Kenya, and other parts of Africa, as well as undertaking many mission projects such as digging wells and installing solar power in remote areas.

Meanwhile, the award ceremony for the 6th Gyeongnam Christian Culture Award will be held on December 5th in the afternoon at the Grand Mercure Ambassador Hotel in Changwon, attended by the recipients’ families and Christian leaders.
