Recognition of Various Attractions Including Glass Greenhouses and English-Style Gardens
Ulsan's first private garden, 'Onsilrium,' has been selected as one of the 30 Most Beautiful Private Gardens Nationwide organized by the Korea Forest Service, enhancing the value of private gardens in Ulsan.
The Korea Forest Service selected the gardens based on five themes according to their unique characteristics: ▲Scenic Gardens ▲Gardens for Rest ▲Traditional and Artistic Gardens ▲Gardens for Enjoyment ▲Unique Gardens.
'Onsilrium' was chosen under the 'Unique Gardens' category, featuring distinctive attractions such as bonsai and tropical trees. It offers various sights including a glass greenhouse with tropical trees and baobab trees, as well as an English-style garden.
A private garden refers to a garden carefully cultivated by corporations, organizations, or individuals that is open for the public to enjoy. There are approximately 150 such gardens nationwide, with 7 currently operating in Ulsan.
The selection of the 30 Most Beautiful Private Gardens Nationwide was made by the Korea Forest Service after initially selecting 45 sites in July based on recommendations from local governments and related organizations. The final 30 were chosen through a comprehensive evaluation including on-site assessments by expert judges and an online vote participated in by 13,356 citizens.
An official from Ulsan City stated, “We plan to nurture private gardens alongside public gardens as tourist attractions and resting spaces to contribute to revitalizing the local economy. We will spare no support to ensure that more private gardens are established in the Ulsan area, taking this selection of Onsilrium as one of the 30 Most Beautiful Gardens as an opportunity.”
