T-money Restores Service After 1 Hour 35 Minutes
Highway and Intercity Buses, Taxis Face Consecutive Disruptions
"We Will Do Our Best to Provide Compensation," They Announce
Due to a T-money network error, the nationwide transportation system experienced major disruptions, but the company announced that the issue was resolved after about 1 hour and 35 minutes. T-money plans to conduct a full investigation into the damages related to the express and intercity bus and taxi system failures and will prepare compensation measures depending on the situation.
According to T-money, at around 1:06 PM that day, a system failure occurred at the T-money Bupyeong data center, causing disruptions to T-money's express and intercity bus reservation and ticketing services as well as taxi approval services. As a result, passengers trying to purchase tickets at terminal vending machines and those who had pre-purchased tickets via the application (app) were unable to properly use the buses, leading to significant confusion.
During the process of individually verifying each passenger's purchase history, some express buses reportedly failed to depart on time. Additionally, the integrated fare collection and dispatch call system for taxi card payments was temporarily paralyzed, forcing passengers to inconvenience themselves by transferring money to drivers' accounts or paying in cash. In some taxis, the meter was turned on but card payments were not possible, and in others, the meter itself failed to boot, causing ongoing confusion. Many taxi drivers had to stop operating their vehicles and wait by parking at charging stations operated by the Taxi Mutual Aid Association.
T-money stated, "We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused," and added, "We will do our best to prepare compensation plans for the damages caused by this failure."
