KCCI Launches Task Force for '2025 APEC CEO Summit'
Choi Tae-won to Attend '2024 APEC CEO Summit' in Peru This November
Choi Tae-won, Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), will serve as the Chair of the '2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit' held in South Korea in the second half of next year, presiding over the largest economic event in the Asia-Pacific region.

On the 27th, the KCCI announced the launch of the 'APEC CEO Summit Task Force' to successfully host the APEC CEO Summit held in conjunction with next year's APEC Leaders' Meeting. The APEC CEO Summit is one of the world's largest economic events, attended by over 1,000 global business leaders including heads of state from the 21 APEC member economies in the Asia-Pacific region.
The 2005 Busan APEC Leaders' Meeting in Korea included the APEC CEO Summit, which gathered more than 800 business leaders and Asia-Pacific leaders. Speakers included Jack Ma, Chairman of Alibaba.com, William Rhodes, Senior Vice Chairman of Citigroup, and Tony Fernandes, CEO of AirAsia.
As the Korean Secretariat of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), the KCCI will host major economic events during the APEC Leaders' Meeting, including the APEC CEO Summit and the 'Dialogue between ABAC Members and APEC Leaders.' As the Korean ABAC Secretariat, it participates in the four annual ABAC meetings and will lead discussions to ensure domestic business proposals are conveyed to APEC leaders. Various cooperation forums inviting global CEOs in AI, energy, finance, and new industries are being prepared.
The KCCI has launched the APEC CEO Summit Task Force and has begun full-scale preparations for the event. The task force is composed of two offices?the General Operations Office and the Policy Support Office?and one center, the APEC Cooperation Center.
Meanwhile, Chairman Choi is expected to attend this year's APEC CEO Summit as Chair. This year's event will be held in Peru on November 14-15 (local time). At this event, Chairman Choi will receive the gavel from Fernando Zavala, Chair of the 2024 APEC CEO Summit, and announce the theme and plans for next year's event.
Korean ABAC members, including Cho Hyun-sang, Vice Chairman of HS Hyosung, Lee Kyu-ho, Vice Chairman of Kolon, and Lee Joo-wan, CEO of Megazone Cloud, will also visit Peru to participate in economic events such as the APEC CEO Summit, the Dialogue between ABAC Members and APEC Leaders, and the 4th ABAC meeting. Vice Chairman Cho is the ABAC Chair for next year and a co-chair this year.
Park Il-jun, Executive Vice Chairman of the KCCI, said, "To successfully host the APEC Leaders' Meeting held in Korea for the first time in 20 years, we will fully mobilize the KCCI's global network capabilities. We will make every effort to prepare in close cooperation with relevant ministries to ensure that next year's APEC economic events serve as a bridge connecting businesses, governments, member economies, and regions, and produce tangible outcomes for a sustainable future."
