On the 26th, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it participated in the ‘2024 Yeongho-Nam East-West Harmony Culture, Arts, and Tourism Expo’ held from the 22nd to the 24th at the Gwangju 5·18 Democracy Square, promoting various local specialties and tourist attractions.

This was the second expo following the one held on the 4th at Daegu 2·28 Freedom Square, organized to widely promote mutual cooperation between Yeongho and Nam regions and the unique culture and tourism resources of each area.

At the expo, the county introduced representative tourist sites such as Juknokwon, Metasequoia Road, and Gwanbangjerim, which were selected as part of the ‘50 Beautiful Urban Forests’ by the Korea Forest Service and designated as ‘Local 100’ by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Visitors were informed about Damyang’s beautiful and attractive natural scenery and tourism resources. Local specialties such as bamboo crafts and Damyang Hangwa (traditional Korean sweets) were exhibited, attracting much interest from visitors. In particular, the Hangwa tasting and bamboo massage stick experience received great responses from many visitors.

Lee Byeong-no, the mayor of Damyang-gun, emphasized, “It was meaningful to introduce Damyang’s beautiful nature and culture to the citizens of Gwangju and visitors from the Yeongho-Nam regions through this expo,” adding, “We will continue to invigorate Damyang’s tourism industry through cultural exchange and cooperation between regions.”
