Changwon Special Mayor Hong Nampyo: "This festival showcased the charms of Changwon and K-pop to the world simultaneously"
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced that on the 25th, KBS2TV's
Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, is giving a greeting on the last day of the Changwon K-POP World Festival.
Co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Korean Broadcasting System, and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Gyeongsangnam-do, Changwon Special City, BNK Gyeongnam Bank, and Muhak, the Changwon K-POP World Festival is a Hallyu cultural festival where K-pop lovers from around the world compete in singing and performance skills. This year marks its 13th anniversary.
On the first day of the festival, the finals of the “2024 Changwon K-POP World Festival” were held at the same venue on the 24th, featuring teams representing eight countries showcasing their dance and singing talents. All 26 members of the overseas selected teams who participated in the competition took the stage of KBS2TV’s
Following this, top K-pop artists representing South Korea such as ITZY, ILLIT, Kang Daniel, Kwon Eunbi, JD1, TripleS Visionary Vision, Choi Yena, CRAVITY, and AB6IX delivered dazzling performances, enlivening the autumn night in Changwon once again. Additionally, actors Moon Sangmin and ILLIT’s Minju co-hosted the event with witty and engaging presentations, leading the show to its best moments.
Notably, the performance was broadcast live to over 145 countries worldwide through KBS2TV and KBS WORLD.
Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, “Changwon has established itself as an open and global city where cultural diversity is respected, and this festival served as an opportunity to showcase the charms of both Changwon and K-pop to the world.” He added, “We will continue to innovate so that the Changwon K-POP World Festival can become a representative Hallyu festival worldwide.”
