Yang Soo-hyun, Mayor of Yangju City, visited Gima Co., Ltd. (CEO Seo Chan-seok) located in Eunhyeon-myeon on the 24th to listen to the difficulties of the Yangju Chamber of Commerce Leather Division and Gima Co., Ltd. and discuss solutions.

On the 24th, Kang Su-hyun, Mayor of Yangju City, visited Gima Co., Ltd. (CEO Seo Chan-seok) located in Eunhyeon-myeon to listen to the difficulties faced by the Leather Division of the Yangju Chamber of Commerce and Gima Co., Ltd., and discussed solutions.

According to Yangju City on the 25th, the Leather Division of the Yangju Chamber of Commerce is one of the 10 divisions of the Yangju Chamber of Commerce, which includes leather companies such as Woorin Co., Ltd., JK Industry Co., Ltd., Wooseok Co., Ltd., and Gima Co., Ltd. Gima Co., Ltd. is a synthetic leather specialist company that supplies products such as bags and wallets to famous overseas brands including PRADA, COACH, and MICHAEL KORS.

At the leather division meeting held first, it was mentioned that the leather industry is currently in a very difficult situation, and environmental regulations are exacerbating these difficulties. They requested support for the purchase of dust collectors and dust collector filters (activated carbon).

During the subsequent meeting with Gima Co., Ltd., CEO Seo Chan-seok requested the expansion and paving of the access road and the installation of a stormwater pipe. However, this access road includes multiple private properties, requiring the consent of the landowners, who are opposing the plan.

Mayor Kang Su-hyun urged overcoming the difficulties of the leather and textile industries and leading the local economy as a representative native industry of the region, and requested active administrative measures from related departments to resolve the difficulties.

Meanwhile, since 2023, Mayor Kang has been continuing a communication administration by visiting local companies on-site every month to directly listen to their voices and find solutions.
