Hwaseong City Launches 510 Citizen 'Supporters' to Announce Special City Inauguration

Special City Promotion and Content Production... New BI Also Unveiled

Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province has launched 510 citizen supporters to announce the launch of the special city status. Along with this, the city also unveiled the new brand identity (BI) of 'Hwaseong Special City,' which will be launched next year.

On the 25th, Hwaseong City held the 'Hwaseong Special City Supporters Launch Ceremony and Special City BI Proclamation Ceremony' at the Modunurim Center Nurim Art Hall. The event was organized to raise citizens' interest and expectations about the launch of the special city and to share a vision for a new future.

The event was held in the order of ▲a special lecture to help understand the special city ▲appointment of supporters ▲BI proclamation ceremony ▲performance, with about 600 people including supporters and citizens attending.

At the event, Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun of Hwaseong City personally awarded appointment letters to six representatives of the 510 supporters. The supporters will play a role in promoting Hwaseong Special City and encouraging citizen participation through various activities such as online and offline promotional activities, collecting citizens' opinions, and producing related content.

Park Gi-gwan, Chairperson of the Local Era Committee's Local Decentralization Special Committee, emphasized in the special lecture, "Hwaseong City will be launched as the fifth special city in January next year, providing administrative services commensurate with its population size and leading regional development."

The city also unveiled the BI on the same day. The BI was designed in a wordmark form, embodying the values of Hwaseong's youthful vitality, advanced future, balanced development, and sustainable growth. It symbolizes the semiconductor circuit and the roads connecting in all directions, expressing the power to attract people, cohesion, and the expansiveness of 1.03 million citizens.

Mayor Jeong said, "Hwaseong City became the fifth city with a population of one million among 226 basic local governments and became the fourth city in less than a year," adding, "Hwaseong's growth is the result of the combined growth of various jobs, educational environment, culture, and transportation." Mayor Jeong added, "Hwaseong City is a city where the imagination of growing to 2 million people can become a reality," and "I look forward to the supporters joining the new leap of Hwaseong City starting in 2025."
