In an interview with the Malaysian media outlet "People of Kuala Lumpur," Bakar revealed that he moved alone after hearing that there were many employment opportunities in Malaysia. Since then, Bakar has worked without taking any vacation or sick leave, never having a day off. He continued his repetitive daily routine. "Every morning, I wake up, take a shower, eat breakfast, go to work, and when I return home, I talk with my family and then rest," he said. "The next day, and the day after that, it’s the same every day."

Having worked like this, he sent most of his income back to Bangladesh to support his children’s education and living expenses. Since moving to Malaysia, he has not been able to visit his hometown. When he left, his youngest child, the fifth son, was only six months old. Bakar said, "Everything I did was for a better future for my children."

His efforts were not in vain. His daughter became a judge, and his two sons are working as a doctor and an engineer, respectively. He plans to return to his hometown this December. He said, "I will finally reunite with my family. I am looking forward to the day I meet my two grandchildren for the first time."

After Bakar’s story became known, reactions expressing "I was moved" appeared on social media (SNS). One local netizen said, "He is truly an amazing role model. His unwavering faith and love for his family sustained him throughout all these years." Another netizen commented, "The dignity of labor should never be underestimated. Workers have built a better future for their families with their own hands and deserve everyone’s respect."

At the same time, some felt sympathy for Bakar’s life. They said no parent should suffer because of their children’s success. "Working every day for 27 years is essentially like working as a slave. There is a lack of welfare and rights for workers," was another opinion expressed.
