Gender Equality Index Award | Asia Economy Grand Prize Family-Friendly System Category
Samsung Securities, which received the 'Asia Economy Representative Award' in the family-friendly category at the 9th Asia Gender Equality Index Awards, supports various working arrangements such as flexible working hours, telecommuting, and part-time work to ensure employees can balance work and family life. Samsung Securities operates systems such as parental leave of up to two years and reduced working hours during childcare periods to support childbirth and childcare. In particular, employees using the selective working hours system can adjust their working hours based on an average of 40 hours per week.
The male parental leave system is also actively operated. Samsung Securities explained that the number of male employees taking parental leave has steadily increased over the past three years. The company has established breastfeeding and pumping rooms, and the in-house daycare center prioritizes allocation for women and single-parent employees with children aged 1 to 5. Samsung Securities was also selected as a 'Family-Friendly Certified Company' by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.

Efforts to expand female employment are also underway. In 2022, Samsung Securities appointed attorney Choi Hyeri from the law firm Sanji as its first female outside director. She currently serves concurrently as the chairperson of the remuneration committee and the internal transactions committee, and is active in the audit committee, the executive nomination committee, and the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) committee.
As a result of these efforts, the number of female employees at Samsung Securities has increased by 31 (0.6 percentage points) over the past three years, and female middle managers have increased by 6 (2.3 percentage points). Additionally, female participation in in-house talent development programs is also rising. Both male and female employees are provided with opportunities to obtain certifications, financial data analysis specialization, leadership, liberal arts, and foreign language education.
Samsung Securities strives to prevent discriminatory factors from arising in processes such as recruitment and promotion. Samsung Securities explained, "Promotions and advancements are determined based on work performance and individual capabilities rather than seniority."
