Expansion of Support for Athletes Creating Social Value

'Athlete Opportunity Income Application' Notice.

Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province (Governor Seo Tae-won) announced on the 25th that it is accepting applications for the Sports Opportunity Income program to promote the social value of athletes who create social value but do not receive fair compensation. The application period is until November 15.

Eligible applicants are Gapyeong residents aged 19 or older as of the 2nd of this month, registered in Gapyeong-gun, and qualified athletes such as sports instructors, active players, referees, and player managers whose income is below 120% of the median income in 2024 (monthly 2,674,134 KRW). The support amount is 1.5 million KRW per person, paid once a year.

Applications can be submitted both online and offline. Online applications are possible after identity verification on Gyeonggi Minwon 24. Offline applications can be made by the applicant or an authorized proxy by visiting the Eup/Myeon Administrative Welfare Center.

However, if applicants are recipients of other social security benefits such as the National Basic Livelihood Security, receiving the Sports Opportunity Income may affect their eligibility or benefits, so prior consultation with the person in charge is necessary.
