NATO Secretary General R?ter Requests Dispatch of Korean Delegation
The government delegation will conduct a briefing on the trends of 'North Korean troop dispatch' to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the European Union (EU).
The National Intelligence Service announced on the 25th that the government delegation, composed of the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and others, will visit NATO headquarters in Belgium. The delegation will be led by Hong Jang-won, the 1st Deputy Director of the National Intelligence Service, and will include high-ranking officials such as Park Jin-young, Director of Intelligence at the Joint Chiefs of Staff (Brigadier General), and Yoo Jeong-hyun, Ambassador to Belgium.
This visit is described by the National Intelligence Service as a follow-up to the Korea-NATO summit phone call held on the 21st. At that time, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte requested President Yoon Seok-yeol to dispatch a Korean government delegation, and President Yoon promised a prompt dispatch of the delegation.
The delegation is scheduled to brief the North Atlantic Council (NAC), attended by ambassadors from 32 member countries, at NATO headquarters located in Brussels, Belgium, on the 28th, regarding the trends of North Korean troop dispatch. Subsequently, they will also conduct a related briefing at the EU Political and Security Committee (PSC).
In addition to the briefings, the delegation will hold meetings with high-ranking NATO and EU officials, including Secretary General Rutte.
